Today, Van Buren students participated in a Walkathon to help raise money for our school! Classes walked a lap over to Central Elementary, and enjoyed receiving medals at the finish line.
The Walkathon is an annual event that is held by all of the elementary schools in Plainfield. Our Van Buren PTO worked hard to plan a really exciting event for our students. We want to thank everyone who helped make this a successful event!
As of now, Van Buren Elementary students have $17,000 (and still counting)! All of the money raised during the Walkathon goes back to all Van Buren students, and helps fund various opportunities, such as field trips, convocations, and other special events. Our school community is amazing, and our students will be able to benefit from all of the wonderful donations.
We also want to take a moment to thank The Tiffin Box food truck for supplying and preparing lunch for our Fifth Grade students. Providing lunch for the Fifth Grade students is always a fun tradition that our students look forward to, and it is a fun way to celebrate in their final days at Van Buren!
