At Plainfield Schools, we pride ourselves on having outstanding teachers.
They love their students, build relationships, and cultivate new experiences in the classroom daily.
They’re also experts in specific things. And who better to help other teachers learn different skills, programs, or classroom tactics?
That’s why we created Quaker Con, a professional development conference for teachers, led by teachers.
Need help learning tricks on how to make spreadsheets work better for your classroom data? Go see a presentation by Mr. Justin Tobey, Director of Student Services, and Mr. Brent Schwanekamp, Assistant Principal at PHS.
Want to learn more about the Science of Reading? Check out the interactive presentation by Mrs. Abigail Carter, 1st Grade Teacher at Guilford and PCSC Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Colleen Perry, Principal at Guilford Elementary.
Looking to get help with technology tools that you can weave into your lesson plans to help students stay engaged? Look no further than the presentation by Mrs. Karisa Schwanekamp, District Technology Integration Specialist, Mrs. Dayna Cade, 1st Grade Teacher at Clarks Creek, and Mrs. Elaine Townsend, PLTW Teacher at PHS.
In addition to these, we had so many other presentations from district leaders. Showcases on creatively showcasing data, classroom and behavior management tactics, Google Drive cleanups, and so much more.
We appreciate that our teachers took a day out of their restful summer break to come and learn from each other. We owe a huge thank you to our PTOs for their donations of prizes and volunteer time for this event.
The inaugural Quaker Con was fantastic and well-attended and we can’t wait to see what next year’s will bring!
