Forty Hoosier high school seniors are being honored as 2021 Indiana Academic All-Stars, and Plainfield High School’s Rashad Saleem is a member of the prestigious group.

Academic All-Star distinction recognizes seniors who excel in the classroom first and foremost, but who are also engaged leaders both in their schools and communities.

Rashad is ranked first in his class, placed in the top ten in the statewide HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) Bowl and HOSA Pharmacy Science, and in the top three statewide in epidemiology. The National Merit Semi-Finalist has earned numerous other prestigious academic awards in science and engineering.

His leadership and involvement in school and community activities are as robust as his academic success. From soccer to National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors, to countless fundraisers for individuals, cancer and Riley Hospital, Rashad fills his hours with important causes, yet still finds time for fun.

The Indiana Academic All-Stars program is produced by the Indiana Association of School Principals, with support provided by DePauw University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Purdue University. Herff Jones is the corporate partner.

All accredited Indiana public- and private high schools may nominate one senior for consideration. From that group, the selection committee choses regional winners and the 40 Indiana Academic All-Stars.
